Views sought on Dyemill forest plans
Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is inviting local residents on Arran to take part in the consultation process for the Dyemill Land Management Plan.
Dyemill woodland, which sits between Lamlash and Whiting Bay, covers an area of 1267 ha and is made up of a mix of commercial conifer plantations, native broadleaved woodland, and open ground.
FLS is currently revising this land management plan, that will define the management prescription for the ten year period between (2025-35), and presents a long term vision for the area.
Catriona Hawthorn, FLS Forest Planner, said;
“Dyemill will continue to be an important timber producing forest but we are also looking to increase the age range and variety of tree species.
“This will change the look of the forest in places but will also help make it more resilient to future climate shocks, and will also help increase biodiversity.
“We know it’s a really popular forest with a wide range of recreational users, including dog walkers, runners and mountain bikers, so we’re keen to hear the views of as many of those people as possible and find out what is important to them.
“Come along to the drop in session to find out more about what we’re proposing or take a look online if you can’t make the date.”
The drop-in session will be held at Whiting Bay Village Hall on Tuesday 29 April, 3.00-6.15.
