Ready for a tree-mendous Christmas
Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) are inviting people to get into the festive spirit with the opening of several Christmas tree sale centres later this month.
With the countdown to Christmas well and truly under way, people can pick up a tree that suits them at The Lodge near Aberfoyle, Glenbranter on the Cowal peninsula, Tyrebagger outside Aberdeen and Kinnoull Hill near Perth.
Sales centres at The Lodge and Glenbranter will open on Friday 29th November, with Tyrebagger opening on Saturday 23rd November and Kinnoull Hill on Saturday 30th November. Tree varieties including Nordmann and Fraser Firs will be available with Tyrebagger also selling Pines. At some sites customers can even combine their trip with a winter walk through the forest.
This year FLS will directly run the sales centres at The Lodge and at Glenbranter with the Tyrebagger and Kinnoull Hill centres operated by private contractors.
The Lodge will have a free winter themed self-led children's trail open daily on the accessible White Waterfall Trail. The café will also be open between 10am to 4pm.
The Tyrebagger sales centre is being run by Scottish Christmas Trees. Along with a great selection of trees, there will be a choice of stands, decorative wreaths, potted trees, logs and kindling.
FLS Visitor Insights & Marketing Manager Laura Stewart said:
“We know a trip to buy a natural Christmas tree from one of our forests can be every bit as much a tradition as hanging up stockings and eating mince pies, so we’re delighted to be able to announce our festive plans for 2024.
“There will be a range of tree sizes to meet the variety of needs people have for their home.
“So, with only six weekends left until Christmas, we are looking forward to welcoming customers to the sales centres and hopefully also into our forests for a festive exploration.”
