Mither Tap fundraiser success
The top of the Mither Tap (Mother’s Breast) was recently (Sunday 23 June) the location for a breast cancer fundraiser – ‘Bennachie’s Biggest Bosie’ – that saw the formation of a 400 link-strong human chain around the summit.
Organised by the Bailies of Bennachie, the event was supported by Forestry and Land Scotland and was boosted by sunny weather and the Kintore pipe band.
Jackie Cumberbirch, for the Bailies of Bennachie, said;
“It was a fantastic day out and we were so lucky that the weather was with us for this first ever circling of the summit.
“We would really like to thank Forestry and Land Scotland for its support in running this event.
“The Kintore Pipe Band really helped raise everyone’s spirits and it was all for a great cause.
“We’re still waiting for some donations to come in so we don’t know yet the grand total of how much we’ve raised but all proceeds will got to Breast Cancer Care, Aberdeen University Development Trust (which does research on breast cancer) and Aberdeen Mountain Rescue Team.”
