Knock of Luce management plan review
Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is inviting local people in the vicinity of Glenluce and Kirkcowan to give their views on a ten-year update plan for woodlands and land at Knock of Luce.
The plan concerns 11 discrete areas of mainly conifer forest and peatland areas across an area of just under 8 square miles.
Key elements of the plan include peatland restoration, sustainable timber production and water quality, and reducing the amount of larch in the area to help control the tree disease, Phytophthora ramorum.
FLS Forest Planner, Dr Lauren Turner, said;
“The management of every forest in our care is governed by a ten year land management plan that, at the end of that period is reviewed and updated as required.
“We’re now at that review stage for the Knock of Luce, so we’re keen to get some feedback from local people on our proposals for the next ten years.
“As the plan takes shape we’ll put all the relevant documents online. Some are already there along with a feedback form that people can use to give us their comments.”
