Glentress ground work gets under way
Forestry and Land Scotland is advising road users that traffic management measures will be in place at Glentress from approximately 14 February to 7 March.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place as work is carried out to improve the access from the A72 and make it easier to get into and out of the site.
The traffic management will be in place at all times during this period but traffic levels will be monitored to limit any delays to the minimum.
Paul Andrews Garth, GT Project Manager Forestry & land Scotland said;
“This is an important early stage of our work to improve the site. We anticipate that in the years ahead the numbers of visitors coming here will only increase and that will mean higher volumes of vehicles coming into and out of the car park.
“Making access safer and easier will be good for visitors but as we progress with our redevelopment work, it will also be of benefit to works traffic.
“Any delays will be minimal and we will do all we can to keep traffic moving as smoothly as we can throughout this initial improvement work.
“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience the work might cause.”
FLS is also taking the opportunity to carry out repairs (8 Feb to Late March) to the Peel Bridge, which means access to the site will alter slightly in the short term. These important works are key to further developing longer term initiatives made to enhance Glentress.
