Celebrate National Children’s Day at Cuningar Loop
Forestry and Land Scotland and Healthy n Happy are inviting adults and children along to Cuningar Loop on Sunday (12 May) to celebrate National Children’s Day.
Taking place from 1pm to 4pm, parents and carers can encourage their children to enjoy a day of fun in the woodlands at this free, celebratory event.
There will be many activities for the whole family to enjoy, including storytelling, den building and free bike hire for children. Visitors can also explore all that Cuningar Loop has to offer, including Scotland’s first outdoor boulder park, an extensive path network, adventure play area, bike tracks, woodland workout area, and relaxing picnic areas by the River Clyde.
Eilidh Malcolm, community ranger at Forestry and Land Scotland, said: “It’s important for children to live a fun, active and healthy childhood and what better way to celebrate this than at an adventure-filled woodland park. Getting kids outdoors alongside other children in the community has many benefits, such as encouraging physical activity and promoting social skills. It is also a great way to educate children on the outdoors and nature.”
National Children's Day UK highlights the importance of a healthy childhood, and how to protect the rights and freedoms of children to ensure that they grow into happy, healthy adults.
Eilidh continues: “Cuningar Loop is a Legacy 2014 project and is designed to encourage children to seek new adventures, challenge themselves, learn, and most importantly have lots of fun outdoors. It’s an ideal location to celebrate National Children’s Day.”
Cuningar Loop is located in Rutherglen and public transport is encouraged due to limited parking.
