Ben A’an carpark works completed
Forestry and Land Scotland has completed its expansion of the car park at Ben A’an.
Supported by the Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund, the work is one element of the Trossachs Visitor Management Project and has seen 26 new spaces added and the entire car park given a new stone surface.
The increase in capacity will help to reduce traffic related issues caused by large numbers of visitors to the hugely popular site.
Sue Morris, FLS’ Area Visitor Services Manager, said;
“The stunning landscape and views from Ben A’an draw thousands of visitors every year and on busy days this often led to quite heavy congestion and irresponsible parking on the approach roads to the car park.
“The expansion of the car park will help to ease this – at least in part – and make a visit a bit less hit-and-miss for many people.
“We’re also carrying out path repair works that will also improve a day’s visit by making the walking on some sections much easier underfoot. We expect the path improvements to be ready for this year’s tourist season.
“None of this would have been possible without the invaluable support of the Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund for the Trossachs Visitor Management project, or the teams that were out in all weathers and working hard on getting these upgrades done.
“We hope that visitors and local stakeholders enjoy the results and feel the benefit when next they visit Ben A’an.”
Although the car park is now open, FLS is advising that its local team will be dealing with windblown trees on the Ben A’an hill path for several weeks to come.
Walkers are able to gain access around the fallen trees but some sections of the path have been damaged and visitors should take extra care.
The RTIF bid was made in partnership with Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd at Loch Katrine, and Friends of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
