Ben A’an Car Park Extension to start
With Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) due to begin extension work at Ben A’an car park towards the end of this month (28/09/2021) visitors are being asked to be considerate and take the opportunity to visit an alternative local site.
Work to add another 26 spaces to the honey-pot site in a bid to help ease congestion, has been made possible with support from the Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund, and is expected to be completed by December, depending on the weather.
Sue Morris, FLS’ Area Visitor Services Manager, said;
“As we all saw last year – post lockdown – Ben A’an’s popularity with visitors often led to quite heavy congestion and irresponsible parking on the approach roads to the car park.
“Adding more car parking spaces will partly help address this issue – but until the works are completed, access and parking at the site will be considerably restricted.
“We’re also going to be taking the opportunity to carry out path works on Ben A’an at the same time, so safety signage and diversions will be in place. Some areas are cordoned off to help protect habitats.
“It would be great help to us – and would help ensure visitors’ have a great day out – if people opted to visit an alternative nearby location instead.”
Alternatives include the Ben Venue hill path, Ben Guilipan Ben an t- Sidhean at Strathyre, as well as Limecraig and Craigmore.
